I do know of some municipalities, in California, that have restricted/eliminated the use of conventional water softeners, as the regeneration of them sends high solids content water into the sewer.

That was a concern.
$400 would have been more reasonable, but I couldn't talk them out of the "gas tax." I went into the process of cleaning the engine bay with a steam machine, it was like pissing in the wind plus all the steam did to the greases were push them around.

For doing something small this might be worth a try-.
The air dryer is the key to making the blast system work and I think my homemade cooler/ice idea would rid the system of water vapor.
I used almost 120 lbs (about $100) for a 14000 gallon pool on 6x6 tile and rocks only.

That's why I drained it completely, glad i did, that would have been 130 lbs of epsom salt added to the water. So following TFP recommended levels will definitely save your pool from scale issues. I'm eyeing the HF 40 pound portable soda blaster.
I finally did get it to work OK but the hassle might be way too much for many, be warned. The soda does not do a thing on removing calcium scale so dont waste your time, its too soft.
Soda blasting in a cabinet or enclosure want workout.
The other fellow's pool was as you describe - thick, thick, thick calcium deposits and he had not only standard tile but also patterned tile (lion heads) as well.

Not much money in it for a pool maintenance company when all they really need to do is test properly, use chlorine and MA and occasionally orchestrate a refill. With todays' water restrictions, sewer restrictions, etc that model is failing.
Its harder than calcium but softer than porcelain tile and basically Epsom salt with neutral PH.

Maxx Strip is the only way to go, I would never subject my pump to spurious glass beads, don't think you could ever get it all out.
Yea, agree, $300 you mentioned previously is a great price, I was quoted $800 for my mess and said they wouldn't clean it all off. First off, let me say water condensation in the air line is a VERY major issue with this unit and getting it to work at all.
Oh, about the additional salt added from soft water. Not to mention if you use too much "elbow grease" you can easily chip the patterns.

If i set up a soda blasting system it would probably be used by my parents too, as both my Mum and Dad are pretty mechanically inclined and would deffinitely use it for stripping often if i had it.
Amazing how much calcium a water softener actually removes, and how much salt it adds over years.
Hello , This is an inactive thread.
Your system can handle up to 5000 ppm NaCl.
Contact Us - The reason is simple: TFPC (Trouble Free Pool Care) is a methodology, not a product that you must purchase.
Interestingly, they never asked about the amount of buildup (which in my case was minimal), so I got the impression that was a flat rate.
Dry air is a must, and you'll want for a lot more air than most home oilless rotary-vane compressors will pump. No experience with that one, but I bought one of their benchtop blasting cabinets and use it with their soda (really Arm and Hammer's) and one of their compressors (4HP 10 Gallon 110V piston type).
This soda blaster will chew through 15+ CFM @ 90 PSI if the pressure is set up where you will think it should be for actually blasting stuff.
About Us - If you are planning only to soda blast smaller parts, this is even cheaper: I have seen that DIY soda blaster.
I refilled with too much soft water though so be careful there, I am now adding calcium chloride which kills me to get my CA to a balanced CSI number.
I was looking at their 40LB portable soda blaster unit and as with most HF stuff it's unfathomable to me how they can sell something for that cheap and still make money.
TFP told me that would be a non-issue.

Since soda powder is less heavy than sand or bead material, would a smaller compressor be able to soda blast effectively?
The soda is much finer than what I used, Maxx strip PF2 (pool finish 2), which is fine grade specifically made for pool tile cleaning.
Me neither. They make a courser grade PT2 (pebble tec 2) which I didnt try and would not recommend.
