The 1.5 horse dust collector is more than efficient and collects down to 1 micron with a blast gates at each machine. For me, this dust collector right now will only be for my Sawstop table saw, miter saw, and eventually a Hammer A3-41 jointer/planer. Two things I should add.One I bought an Onieda Dust Gorilla Pro. After that while, the blast gates get jammed with dust so don't close, the joints in the pipe work loose (unless you seal them permanently, then you can't clear blockages) and the cheap bag on the DC just discharges fine dust into the air. The Oneida outperforms the CV on my longest duct runs, but just slightly. I used KB duct (cheaper than Nordfab) but experience showed me that the Nordfab clamps are better so used them with the KB ducting. Agree with others. The drops are 4" and both service the area I roll machines into, one from above and one from beolw. I really don't think I can go wrong with either option. I am a big fan of the Laguna C flux or (P flux if you want to go HEPA) collectors. Oneida also offers a add-on silencer to further drop the noise of their cyclones. I think you're comparing a bit of apples to oranges here. Im not going to bash Oneida but Im not going to give them a plug here either. Both brands are compatible with each other. For my health Ive decided I have to drop some cash on a good dust collection system to capture as much as possible.Ive read through much of Bill Pentzs stuff and have some idea what is necessary, but have noticed theres been no updates in years now. This isnt ideal but I live in California and the warm or hot days far out number the cold days, so venting air outside isnt ideal at times but it is probably not an issue and it could be helpful in the summer.
