His design for the Norwegian Glacier Museum, built and expanded between 1991 and 2007, is perhaps his most famous work. Notable jurors have included J. Carter Brown, former director of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.; Italian businessman Giovanni Agnelli; architectural critic Ada Louise Huxtable; art historian Kenneth Clark; and major architects such as Philip Johnson (the first recipient of the prize), Maki Fumihiko, Frank O. Gehry, and Cesar Pelli.

The Pritzker Prize has been awarded for forty-four straight editions without interruption, and there are now 23 countries with at least one winning architect.

"Francis Kr's entire body of work shows us the power of materiality rooted in place. The recognition it earned helped Kr establish his own practice in Berlin. It is, he says, a West African symbol of consensus building, and he hopes the building will reflect a commitment both to tradition and democratic process. The Pritzker Architecture Prize [1], The Executive Director of the prize, Manuela Luc-Dazio,[7] solicits nominations from a range of people, including past Laureates, academics, critics and others "with expertise and interest in the field of architecture". Past winners are among the most important figures in late 20th- and early 21st-century architecture.
