Routed through 240 acres of rolling topography and up to 100 feet of elevation change, Waverly Oaks also features some bold greens that are reminiscent of Seth Raynor designs. In my opinion, Triggs Memorial Golf Course in Providence, R.I. is a very pleasant, very authentic Donald Ross product, with the added bonus of being a public layout, available for all to study and enjoy. Once you're there, you'll find a challenging Depression-era par-70 layout that calls [], Careers and Internships at Boston Magazine. Donald Ross routing makes good use of some interesting contouring while also offering nice views of Mount Wachusett and the nearby reservoir.
The biggest problem was pace of play and a foursome that would not let us play through , and we are quick players.
The course finishes with a downhill par 5 that will test both your distance and accuracy with a tree-lined fairway and a green protected by bunkers, grass swales, and waste areas. Loved the course. The best players in Massachusetts attempt to navigate the small greens for a couple amateur events in the state.
The Lodge now offers 15 overnight rooms for use by members and their guests. Greens perfect, designed with just the right amount of undulation to make them fair yet challenging and interesting played back tees and found yardage on all holes again challenging but not excessive. I have had the pleasure of playing The Oaks course three times now, and each time it lives up to my lofty memories/expectations.

Acclaimed by industry publications and avid golfers alike, Waverly Oaks comprises 7,100 yards of sprawling scenery and lush woodlands, featuring unique, challenging tests across every hole that crafts the Par 72 layout. Facilities are nice AND convenient as they have a "snack/ beer shack" out on course.

About 45 minutes west of Boston, Wachusett Country Club actually sits closer to the borders of Connecticut and Rhode Island than Boston. His summer office was in Little Compton, in the southeast corner of Rhode Island, just a couple of hours away.
Although it is considerably shorter than the club's original golf course, it is still a round that will formidably test your skills. Thanks to some tree removal and an effort to improve drainage, William J. Devine usually plays firm and fast and can be a fun challenge for players of all skill levels.
