The single crystal-ball type control has always been extremely sensitive to adjustments; when I've replaced the washers inside (a few times), I notice that the 2 curved water conduits were extremely small and close together, making for difficult adjustments. The normal part we would recommend for roman tub fillers without a hand sprayer is R2707 (the flexible rough-in valve) which as you have noticed is currently backordered by the Delta factory. I was a bit surprised (and greatly annoyed) that it did not fit since both are Delta systems. If you or anyone else has questions I'm happy to help. I would argue that function is part of the design. We replaced with a cheap product from Danco, but it is a piece of junk. What Trim Kit with cartridge do you use for an Delta Universal 10000 water valve, With this being a universal valve you can use almost any of their trim kits including single (just a showerhead) double (showerhead and separate slidebar head for example). 
I tried calling, emailing, chatting Delta to get simple answers to these questions and it was SO frustrating! Hope this helps! The valve you choose will not matter for 14 series or 17 series. As if their customer service people knew even less than I did and were looking everything up (as if I hadn't tried that).

If you know for sure you have a new style valve, you will have to change the ENTIRE trim kit. Why not just go and ask the Delta folks directly? Any ideas for upgrade to a bathroom with a "toilet and shower" only? I think I understand that each system will be on opposite 42 short ends of the shower and will have their own thermostatic valve to control temp on each 3 components of the system system. I was wondering , there are several types of r10000 valves - i think they are all compatible with any current delta shower trim and the difference in lettering in the product code refers to the type of plumbing connection they require - is that correct? DELTA "MONITOR" is a trade name used to describe a shower, or tub shower faucet trim with internal parts which "monitor" water pressure to balance temperature and protect you from sudden temperature changes.

So in your case, to change from a Danco to a Delta, you will have to replace the valve inside the wall with a Delta Valve, and then you will be able to use any Delta trim kit you like. 14 series trims have a cartridge for single handle and 17 series trims have a cartridge for dual handles. This replacement cartridge is easy to install and by stopping the leak you can save water, energy and money. Does either door opening configurations work better than the other?

I do have word that they are coming available again, but it could still be a few weeks. They let light move through the space while still allowing privacy. Hoping that's so in case all the Delta Laharas really end up looking out of place in our Midcentury Modern-style home. Hi. have to match? It would be better, however, if the finish is a match in the same room at least, that is the case if you care about symmetry and balance; then you probably wouldn't like seeing different finishes ( black and shiny chrome and matte finish and gold or copper toned, etc.) But we will be finishing bathrooms in the next 4-6 weeks and after reading some problems of other folks, I'm getting a little anxious whether I made the right choice.

you could look at their trinsic line for example and most of the shower kits / trim kits you would find are compatible with this valve. I am a bit confused about what I can and can not do with the Delta valve. :( Walls were just closed up, so I am guessing switching them out now would be too much a pain. Thank you! When I removed the 1700 series cartridge, there is still some white plastic in the back of the valve.

However, the 1400 series cartridge does not seem to fit with that piece of plastic left in place. They offer a lot of different of Shower Faucets such as Tub and Shower Combination Faucets, Shower only Faucets, Shower Handle Controls, and Shower Systems. There are valves made for many types of specific use cases but normally these are things that the plumber will need to determine. I like a frosted glass door.
