I still don't trust Grizzly.
I have my barrel on the mobile stand so I can release the quick disconnect and drop the barrel to wheels free to recycle.
I have a G1029 that I bought in 1991, I've gone through multiple table saws and jointers but this is the one constant in my shop.
I'm the only one who uses this, so it would most likely be just 1 tool at a time being used.
I finally figured out how to deal with sawdust in my hair. Like Robo I have the 30gal because I have height limitations where I mounted it.
Some of the things it comes standard with, seem to be options on the Laguna.
To reduce the risk of serious injury and/or damage to your Festool product, always read, understand and follow all warnings and instructions in your Festool product's Instruction Manual. Personally Im trying to decide between the Pflux 1.5 and the Mini Gorilla. It will be in my garage. Today while running it to collect dust at my workbench from sanding, it just stopped like I had turned the switch off.
Powermatic introduces the model PM2200 cyclone dust collector, featuring HEPA filtration and a 2-hp, 230-volt, single-phase motor that moves up to 1,543 cu. I would think if they can make any size they should be able to.
I was hoping to get some opinions on 2 dust collectors I'm looking at purchase for my garage.
- Its not that Im so smart, its just that I stay with problems longer. Albert Einstein.
There are only two moving parts on a DC - the motor shaft and impeller.
All of these machines will be plenty for only using 1 tool at a time.
Had to take time off for family problems including a looooong trip but I digress. If I end up running 220, it will be an Oneida I think but would really like to be able to use the 120v/20amp outlets I have. Providing marketing, business, and financial consultancy for our creators and clients powered by our influencer platform, Allstars Indonesia (allstars.id). #1 producer of sawdust in at least a 4 block radius of Lincoln, NE. Here are some supplies and tools we find essential in our everyday work around the shop. Lots of folks will upgrade their systems, even cyclones. Nope, did not hit it by accident LOL Tried to fire it back up nothing, not even a groan.
I find that 30 gallons of sawdust is already more than I want to lift.
P Flux models start at $2,899.
Is that the supercell?
It's proven to be a workhorse.
A good cyclone will collect 99+ percent of the chips and dust and dump it into a canister that is easy to carry and dump and that requires no cleaning.
Whats everyone opinion on the Clearvue Cyclones?
Cloth filter bags are a PINTA to dump and clean which will be frequent if you do not have a cyclone.
They also have a redesigned three-piece drum construction that require far fewer joints and fasteners for reduced assembly time, as well as locking casters. I spoke to both Laguna and Oneida reps.
I find that we tend to plan our needs for dust collectors a bit too "optimistic". What you do between those is up to you.
check out the. Truly head-spin worthy if you try to speed read thru it.
Laguna offered a whole new machine or just the motor; I went for the latter (didn't want to disassemble the old one and ship) and it runs fine now.
For a better experience, please enable JavaScript in your browser before proceeding. Especially since my log splitter took a dump, ordered a new one today. it's always something.. LOL. Also, do not use all caps nor all lower case.
It may not display this or other websites correctly. I bought the older 2HP white one earlier this year. Laguna Tools announces upgrades to its lineup of C Flux and P Flux cyclones and the upcoming launch of its new X Flux 5 dust collector.
You also don't see an impeller that size (15.8") on a 3 horse machine normally, I'd bet it moves more air than the competition. Look again, the 4380 is FPS, not CFM.
I almost pulled the trigger on 220v Oneida but backed off for now.
Picked up the starter capacitor this morning.
Sisingamangaraja No.21,Kec.
I was looking at Jet & Laguna because I heard they would be on sale for Black Friday. https://www.canadianwoodworker.com/warget=LA015DCP, http://forum.canadianwoodworking.comlems-with-them. but frankly afraid to mess with capacitors. Kby.

Short-cone designs like the Laguna extract less dust from the airstream than long-cone designs. All Rights Reserved. Been using it hard for about 15 years now with no issues. Right before shutting down on me, she was vibrating pretty bad, bad enough it cracked the electronics box on motor in half.. wow, must have had a previous crack somewhere.
I have the Oneida Air Systems V-3000 in my garage shop and it is very very effective and quiet. I started with absolutely nothing. Yea, I checked my tools, nothing missing LOL, but for SnGs I will go through the chip bag to make sure it was a big piece of bark and not a tool that went through it. JavaScript is disabled.

Here's my comment on the bin size, when it comes time to lug it to the curb I'd rather tote 30 gallons of sawdust that 55 gallons, even if I have to tote twice as often. Interesting thread. They show CFM at 1543.
American motor and dust collection is all this company does. Been a while since I looked.
I was looking at some Jet and Laguna DCs earlier today, and the way my new shop will be set up I just couldnt decide if they would work.
So, I guess next time it dies, I'll have my oneida fund built up. Thats how I got mine, which BTW is an older Oneida unit. Other than them, I know of Clear View, and they got a lot of good reviews. If you're looking to keep the cost down, do consider Grizzly.
Seriously, even though I can afford it, it is coming out of my new camper fund.
We may receive a commission from sales referred by our links; however, we have carefully selected these products for their usefulness and quality. Looking at 115v, don't want to mess with 220 wiring again.
I have searched for info on here about the Grizzly G0860, only found one thread with little info. It is 240V so you'll need to wire for it.
They were not around when I got my Oneida. So I am looking for a new one.

Hope it does but for $5, gotta try.
Kind of funny about the CFM's of the Powermatic and the Laguna as if you look at the pictures of the two units they look like the same machines except for a few cosmetic differences???? I'm not sure. If they say it takes alot to fix it or needs replaced, I will again look at a new cyclone.
2022 Cruz Bay Publishing, Inc. an Active Interest Media company.
The Bitterness of Poor Quality Lingers Long after the Cheap Price is Forgotten!!!!! An auto-cleaning feature is now standard for the P Flux, available with 1.5-, 2- or 3-hp motors.
Took hoses off, opened up and discovered some bent vanes, straightened them up and still dead to the world.

I often leave 2-4 gates open at the same time with the Oneida 3hp and it works great.
This seems to only apply to the 3hp models and up. Although Festool strives for accuracy in the website material, the website may contain inaccuracies.
It's on sale now for $325 and interestingly, I paid the same price 26 years ago. If there is no centrifugal switch (unlikely) then it could be a current sensing relay and you would probably need help.
Remote and LED drum light are standard.. I try to keep repair cost of any unit to 75% or less than original cost, any more and tool gets replaced. I would like a cyclone collector but open to other styles.

That is, more dust gets to the filter. Welcome new registering member. The $5 cap fix got me another 10 months use, well, a good hard use for 6 months.
I have been very happy with my Laguna Pflux Hepa 3hp. I can run the 220v if I need to. I was trained in aircraft electronics, not elec. Apparently it was hard wired in a manner so that when it did trip, you couldn't reset it, or some electrical talk like that.
I added the pleated filter and that helped a lot .
30gal is great plenty for lathe (only use for dust), tablesaw, bandsaw, mitersaw and even router table (not used for long periods).
I believe that dust collection is one of those specialized applications that might be best served by manufacturers who specialize in dust collection.
I'm going to get getting a table saw around the same time.
Guy at electric shop said it is what he calls a throw-away motor, not if but when it dies, better off replacing the whole unit. I have a Jet AFS 1000B mounted in the ceiling. JavaScript is disabled. Now, thanks to years of hard work, careful planning, and perseverance, I find I still have most of it left. You are using an out of date browser.

I have the same question. I recently ordered one after doing a lot of research, waiting on it due to backorder.
We understand that creators can excel further.
The X Flux 5 is geared towards fine dust and sanding where cyclones are not performing as well. This year I added their new noise baffle. There's a relationship between the length of the cyclone cone and the percentage of dust the cyclone removes from the airstream.
Properly sized, you will only ever need one.
Last year I got the Dust Deputy 5" from Amazon.
I ordered the C-Flux from the local Woodcraft. We will see what happens when the time comes but I hope this repair last a while.
After some reading, if I don't put in 220, I will get the Laguna Tools 1.5hp C/Flex:1.
The C Flux models start at $1,999. Werea team of creatives who are excited about unique ideas and help digital and others companies tocreate amazing identity. Thanks.
I have the 35 gal. With dust collectors to me it's Oneida or bust. This site uses cookies to help personalise content, tailor your experience and to keep you logged in if you register.
I'm going to spend some time looking at all the brands and ratings again, that 3k for an DC would go far in comfort items for my new scoot. I know this is not a popular opinion among woodworkers.
Lol, I've got the 110V predecessor of the Laguna cflux-.
2020, Famous Allstars. Another contender to consider is the Oneida Air Systems 1.5hp Mini Gorilla. I want the winner to be the quieter unit but I dont really have a way to determine that lol. This page was generated at 08:49 PM. I'll check them out, thanks. The only thing I dont like is the remote is a $80 option with Oneida.
They fixed it for me, and it is still running strong.
Relatively quiet, good build quality, good performance, sturdy, and great support from Oneida. Decided on the Laguna, I move my stuff around alot and the Laguna looked beefier for that.
I want to turn-baby-turn! Auto-cleaning of the HEPA filter is accomplished by double-paddles that sweep the filter every three minutes of system use in a clockwise and counterclockwise action.
Festool makes no representations about the accuracy, reliability, completeness or timeliness of the material on this website or about the results to be obtained from using the website. My first was a 2hp Grizzly, after a couple years I made a home made cyclone for it and dumped the bags - much better.
Holy $!/&, lets wake it up and bust em out!!!
Wife rides with me on the trike so her. comfort kinda takes preference for now. If the contracts don't open as the motor comes up to speed then you get the condition you described as "Motor at first would run up about half speed then pop the push button breaker". You might verify that the centrifugal switch contacts are closed for starting.
It is also quieter - and my wife will happily attest to that. Great company and customer support and they seems to have this cyclone thing down pat.
So for a while now I've been casually shopping for a dust collector to put into my shop, which is equal parts WW / auto.

Plus I had about $200 in store credit so I was only out of pocket about $900.
Hi, I am in the market for a dust collector and I have narrowed it down to the. etc. The impeller blade was so out of balance that a local machine shop wouldn't even touch it to try to repair it, and he had to get it totally replaces.
I have had 2 Laguna motors where the centrifugal switches failed, resulting in the same issue you are seeing.

Well, maybe after I fix hydraulics on one tractor, leak on another, then rewire a friends tractor, mow 3 acres covered in leaves, til those leaves/grass under in garden, butcher bout a dozen roosters, cut another load of firewood man it never ends. I hoping I can use the vast experience of the members to help with a dust collector choice.
Hello everybody.
My Oneida did shut down once.
If your dreams don't scare you, you are not dreaming big enough, Inspiring Media Inc. o/a Canadian Woodworking.
Even if a deal it's still a grand or a little more so I'm probably going to pass, as I don't get the "warm and fuzzies" on this one.
Bearing in mind that the ratings on them are under perfect, lab conditionsthat NEVER occur in the real world shop environment. I don't have a jointer or planer yet.
The difference is incredible. Shiny/new is fun!!
I know the DC will not collect all of the superfine dust at the tool, but the more you can keep out of your lungs the better.
Sounds like every thing else on the DC is good.
The garage is wired for 110, but I'll probably have to add another circuit.
Reviving this old post! But really worth looking over. I have no experience with them, but Clear View is another DC system, and I am pretty sure they are made in USA. Spun like she was new. 2Hp does not sound like enough for a 20" planer. That would be a cheaper solution.
He had to drill out most of the holes on the frame because they didn't fit or line up. Careful, don't smoke the motor windings.
and I got tired of the amount of dust in the air and issues with the cloth bags so I switched to a 3 hp Oneida V system.
They said we don't have that one in stock but for $5 they will order it for me. You must log in or register to reply here. I'm sure they are having a hard time getting supplies just like every one else with the pandemic.
The dust collector will be used for the table saw, router and my kapex.
Undersizing will leave you frustrated, and not getting the results you had hoped for - chiefly, keeping the air cleaner for your health and keeping your shop space cleaner. That PM DC has some bells and whistles you don't see on other models (vacuum to hold the debris bag, and a pressure gauge) but that probably doesn't justify the price.
I'm not totally sold on Oneida but am leaning that way. I just bought one a few weeks ago and have been very happy with it. My Oneida works great no dust in the shop.
Had a friend who got one maybe 10 years ago. The all-new X Flux 5 boasts a powerful 5-hp motor and impressive 1,823 cfm, the company said in a statement. "Screen names" and "handles" are not allowed and your registration will be deleted if you don't use your real name.
Not sure how you can get that much difference of CFM's out of a machine that look that similar? They have some that are very small foot prints, and have flow ratings that you can trust.
All my other festool tools I'll have hooked up to the CT26e. Yes, I'll keep that in mind.
Upgrades to the C Flux cyclone dust collectors include a dual-paddle filter cleaning design and a 46-gallon capacity on the C Flux 2 and 3 models.
I just got this in today and got it installed..pardon the pun, but it really sucks!
Oneida Air introducesSupercell dust collector. Right now I have basically no dust collection setup and the dust is quite awful.
Couldn't get it started again. Looking at a Laguna C/Flux:1 also.
A forum community dedicated to professional woodworkers and enthusiasts.
Not sure about the other systems, but I have a 3 hp Oneida, which can handle 2 machines at once.
I looked at it, decided I can due 2 screws without shorting myself out so we will see if that fixes it. I called and talked to them, they said sounds like starter cap.
You are using an out of date browser. Come winter, I might be able to go that high without sleeping in the dog-house. LOL. I do like inexpensive repairs but when it can be replaced for a couple more $$s, it's time. It may not display this or other websites correctly. It is made in New York.
Like others said - since the trash can gets the finer particles and packs it down it will be VERY heavy when it gets full. At FAS, we invest in creators that matters. Back to making shavings! If the cap does not fix it, I will drop it off at the repair shop for their help, it would be over my head/experience. Grizzly jet and Powermatic are all made innthe same country I think. I think you really need to have a HEPA rated filter (especially if your shop is in your house), and then a properly designed cyclone to extend the life of the expensive HEPA filter.
I figured, what do I have to loose, so I went for it.
I see a lot of guys using portable units as de facto stationary units, which is fine if that was your original intention. You are born weak & frail, and you die weak & frail. As packerguy said, call Oneida.my 3hp Dust Ape was/is the BEST thing I've ever bought for my shop. I have an Oneida Supercell with the 35 gallon drum and have been well pleased with it. Thanks for the info.
Reduces the sound level by about 10db. Repair shop is 30ish miles from my place.
What an amazing difference in dust capture as well as planer, jointer and router table debris. Back Office- Software, Insurance & Associations. What does the planer mfg suggest?
All times are GMT-5.
I bought the 1.5 P Flux last year during the black Friday sale and have been very happy with it. I was just looking at those, interesting. I will say Oneida seemed more interested in earning my business than Laguna.
So I am looking for a new one. https://lagunatools.com/classic-machinery/dust-collectors/cflux-1-5-hp-cyclone/, http://www.jettools.com/us/en/p/jcdc-1-5-cyclone-dust-collector-1-5hp-115v/717515, Re: Dust Collector for garage.
Capacitor(s) may be okay could also be the centrifugal switch. I had a 1 ag Powermatic that was OK but the Griz is bigger and twice as powerful. I have a 2 bagger grizzly and like it.
Our creator-led media are leadersin each respective verticals, reaching 10M+ target audience. I have the Onieda Mini Gorilla 110v, and like it a lot. Those that have them really like them.
How fast do they get filled when planing or jointing ?
0 Members and 1 Guest are viewing this topic.
For those with these nice dust collectors would you mind commenting on the capacity of the bin ?
I would second this, I just bought one myself and love it.
That's why the short-cone systems make a big point of having a built-in beater to help clean the filter. In fact, 15 or 20 gallons is a bit to haul. Assistance hours:Monday Friday10 am to 6 pm, Jl. I would get more stuff on me cleaning the bag than turning a bowl. I have the Oneida Supercell (35 gallon) great machine with incredible suction.
Bill Pentz has a website that has a HUGE amount of information on it.
The Chinese motor burned up (as in smoking windings!)
Got to it after lunch, changed out and plugged it in.
What is currently stopping me is the 35 gallon version is a 10 week wait, the 55 gallon version is a 4 week wait.
I'm looking at the Laguna 1.5HP & Jet 1.5HP. Both were very very helpful.
I'll check that one out as well. I would like a cyclone collector but open to other styles. I ordered at the beginning of this year and it was shipped much earlier than the estimated ship date posted on their website.
Did you check all the usual suspects - switch, outlet, circuit breaker, capacitor? I know.you just want a new shiny one! You want that one to do the job right out of the box.
Festool USA does not pre-approve the contents of this website nor endorse the application or use of any Festool product in any way other than in the manner described in the Festool Instruction Manual.
Laguna or Jet. It doesn't take much to end up with $3k medical bills.. Welp, to resurrect an old thread. time has come to play the taps for this DC.
There are other smaller units available but I wouldn't go any smaller than this, for future expansion. I agree with PackerGuy and EdL. One test I saw mentioned how good the dust separation was on the 1.5hp model you are looking at. We undersize based on our needs.
It is actually a "JDS" which uses a different color scheme (blue versus dark gry), I have the grizzly version and I like it, pretty sure most of these come out of the same factory, grizzly has decent customer service and parts availability so I want with them. I have the 3 hp version of that older model and have been generally pleased with it.
I think I would go with the Oneida.
I'm not too concerned with the CFM.
Baru,Kota Jakarta Selatan, Daerah Khusus Ibukota Jakarta 12120.
I prefer 220.but I can understand it can be expensive if you have to pay someone to install it. Many of the short-cone designs even have a motorized beater.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Your username must be your real First and Last name (for example: John Doe). Umm, maybe if the motor dies again, get a good motor to replace it.
Used another 6-7yrs with cyclone.
Duct design is incredibly important.
That's still probably not correct, but if more comparable to what the others indicate. I only use it for one tool at a time and it's plenty for my Sawstop, bandsaw, and router table. After speaking to Oneida I may go with the V3000 system. Did the motor burn out or just stop working? Festool and its affiliates cannot be responsible for improper postings or your reliance on the website's material.
Cyclones like heavier chips and the X Flux 5 would be better suited to handle fine dust, and its geared towards the upscale home hobby shops through the small pro shop, adds Lagunas Benjamin Helshoj in an interview with Woodshop News.
It did take 220.
Thanks everybody!
A while back I posted asking opinions about purchasing the 3HP Powermatic dust collector seen.
Oneida, Clear Vue, JDS focus their success on high end dust separation. Started too small with dumb design and over time have something now that works.
Which did you end up choosing?
Oneida has a new high pressure system that looks intriguing. If it does fix it, I'm still going to modify mine. Something to consider when comparing dust collectors is how much you anticipate moving it around your garage.
Took the set up to an electrical shop because I thought it was the motor.
Thanks.
in the first 4 hours. Looks like there is a long wait on either one so I have more time to read/compare. Is Oneida the only one made in the USA?
I almost pulled the trigger on 220v Oneida but backed off for now. We exclusively manage 70+ of Indonesias top talent from multi verticals: entertainment, beauty, health, & comedy.
Will echo some of the same things - go bigger than you think you need, 30 gal trash can with separator on top is great, scoop up what you can with a shovel first then suck up the rest, use 4"+ hose wherever you can, filter bags are a real pain. Your use of any material contained on this website is entirely at your own risk.
This article was originally published in the March 2022 issue. Now if you want to save cash, you could always look around for used equipment.
There is literally thousands of hours on it and the only thing I've had to do was tighten the impeller bolts twice.
Some people claim that the shorter cyclone design used by Laguna and other manufacturers can reduce effective separation of fines from larger dust particles and cause the filter to clog faster. Looking at 115v, don't want to mess with 220 wiring again.
I'm sure I could find one for less, but that replacement cost is much more than I originally paid for this tool.
